Launch Week Recap!

Hello friends! Monday is here again, and I am still on a workout high mixed with brain mush from last week! At one of my gyms we had a launch week for all the new Les Mills programs! Every quarter we get new music and choreography to learn. I was certified for Body Pump in July 2017 and I had gotten into a good routine of learning the 10 tracks. This time I also had my new program, Sprint, to learn! I received my official certification just a few days before launch, so it was crunch time and my brain was feeling it

One of the fun things about launch week is teaming with other instructors to ease on the stress of learning and remembering everything all at once. I typically team several times during launch week and we also help each other build up the excitement!

I have been asked many times what exactly do I teach! Body Pump is a 55 min choreographed weight lifting class. We run through the same order each week: warm up, squats, chest, back, triceps, biceps, lunges, shoulders, core, & cool down. Each release has different music, moves and tempos we work with. When we launch, we teach the same release for several weeks, and then we can choose to mix and match music & choreography from different releases, while hitting the same order of exercises. I have been teaching Body Pump since Aug 2017, and it is still one of my favorite classes to take and teach!

The new program that I teach is called Sprint. It is a HIIT class, but we use the bike as our tool. It is NOT a traditional spin or cycle class. It is a 30 min format, and that is all you need! It is a fun mix of standing and seated power, sprints, and strength work! I started taking the class last spring, and then got roped into going to training in December 2018.

If you have never tried a Les Mills class, I would challenge you to try one out in a local gym, or you can also try it on demand (try 10 days free)!

During a typical week, I will teach 4-6 classes, a combo of Body Pump and Sprint. During launch week it is always a bit more! This past week I loved getting to teach with so many of my friends! It was a blast and it also helped to solidify each release in my brain so that when I was back to teaching by myself, I knew what I was doing 🙂

Sunday- Practice with the team and helping new instructors with form and timing
Monday- Morning- Team for Body pump followed by teaming for Sprint. Evening- team for body pump
Tuesday – REST, both my body and brain were shot!
Wednesday- Team again for Body Pump and Sprint back to back! (This is a kick booty combo)
Thursday- Walk to get the wiggles out
Friday- Team for Sprint
Saturday- Teach Body Pump on my own

Now that launch week is over, I am back to teaching my normal schedule and I am so ready!
Well, ready until my other gym launches in a few weeks 😉

If you have any questions about Les Mills classes, or have any desire to become an instructor, please let me know!
