Hello friends!
Anyone else having a crazy week? I feel like every week is just as full as the last, even when I have less commitments on my plate.

Spring (or almost summer here) is in full swing! The flowers are budding, I hear birds every morning, and allergies are no joke with all this pollen! Spring brings in the desire to open all the windows, let out the stale winter air and clean everything! Spring cleaning usually focuses on cleaning out parts of ones home, but I have also been working on spring cleaning in some other areas of my life. The last few weeks we talked about spring cleaning for your pantry and kids clothes. This week I want to talk about spring cleaning what you say!
Have you ever looked in the mirror and said or thought negative things about yourself? Things you might not even say out loud if someone else was around? Things you would NEVER say to your best friend or a stranger about their body. It might not even be about your body, but about your actions and calling yourself names for a mistake or a decision you have made. I know I am guilty of that more times than I want to admit.
My challenge to you is that you shift the things you say to yourself, and start being your BFF. Wake up and tell yourself good morning. Tell yourself how fabulous you are. Remind yourself that you are strong and are capable of so much. Smile. Remind yourself that it is ok to be imperfect! Say some positive affirmations about yourself:
- I am smart
- I matter and what I have to offer this world also matters
- I am capable of doing hard things
- I am talented
- I engage in work that impacts this world positively
- I love and approve of myself
- I forgive myself for all the mistakes I have made
- I choose to find hopeful and optimistic ways to look at each situation I face
- I choose to see my family as a gift
- I embrace the quiet of the night as I sleep in peace
- I fill my day with hope and face it with joy
Those are just a few examples! There are so many more out there if you are desiring to look for more!

We are amazing people. We have survived hard things. We have fought for those things that are important to us. We have gained. We have lost. We have been to hell and back. Some are on the mountain top today. Some are in the valley today. Some are brave even though they are scared. Some are fighting to stay alive. Every day is a new chance to be kind to yourself, and to learn to love yourself more and more!
Just a reminder that if you are feeling really down about something, it is 100% ok to reach out for help! I am here, and there are wonderful helping professionals who are so great at listening and giving advice for life’s challenges. Please know that you are never alone!
Will you take the challenge to say more kind things to yourself?

A good challenge for sure – it’s far too easy to be too hard on oneself. Affirmations can do a lot for your mindset.

Positive self-talk and self-expression is so important. It sets the tone for our days and for our attitudes and perspectives. More people should be kinder to themselves.

This is a great reminder of how important our self-talk is. I didn’t used to believe in it, but I have learned through running and biking that your self-talk can make all the difference, and of course that is true in other parts of life. Thanks for the great mantras!
